Maifest - May 9 - 11 - Celebrate spring in Bavaria! Leavenworth rolls out the red carpet for spring with this old-fashioned annual celebration. Beautiful flowers spill from hanging baskets to set the mood, along with peppy oompa music and strolling accordion serenades. Everyone - local dignitaries, townspeople and visitors - joins in the Grand March, and delightful Bavarian dances are performed around the traditionally decorated Maipole. Bavarian Bike and Brews Festival - Mountain Bike Race - June 7 - This IMBA-sanctioned XC bike race features a spectacular and rigorous 8.6 mile course with 1,800 feet elevation change per lap. Washington State Autumn Leaf Festival - September 26 through 28 - One of Washington's most well-known fall traditions, Autumn Leaf celebrates the area's famous foliage and the changing of the seasons. Leading the action-packed activities is the Grand Parade on Saturday; a "who's who" of Northwest marching bands, floats and entertainers. The Royal Lady of the Autumn Leaves, Royal Bavarians and local dignitaries will be on hand in authentic costume to welcome visitors. Our businesses gear up early for the Christmas season, so you can explore more than 100 shops packed with holiday treasures without the crowds! The variety and quality of merchandise will satisfy the most challenging shopping list. Where else besides a German village can you hear Alpenhorns and Carillon Bells, see authentic attire, drink a stein of Hacker Pschon, eat wiener schnitzel and spend a night at the Inn? Christkindlmarkt - November 28 through 30 - Kicking off the holiday season, the Leavenworth Christkindlmarkt is modeled after the traditional Christkindlmarkts of Germany, dating back to 1639. Twenty Vendor Booths are set up in the park on Front Street in an outdoor, open-air market featuring local merchants and restaurants with their Christmas gift and food items. Stroll through the market with the aromas of sugar and cinnamon roasted almonds, chestnuts, sausage and stollen (traditional Christmas bread). Christmas Lighting - Saturday and Sunday on Three Weekends - December 6 - 7, 13 - 14 and 20 - 21 - Visitors come back year after year for this famous Leavenworth festival. Nestled at the base of the majestic Cascade mountains, the Bavarian Village is decked out in full holiday decor and filled with anticipation. The aromas of service club food booths and roasted chestnuts fill the frosty air. Entertainment includes lots of music from the gazebo, sledding in the park and sleigh rides. Santa makes an entrance and chats with the children, and St. Nick and Father Christmas provide photo opportunities. Finally at dusk, everyone gathers together to sing "Silent Night" in the true meaning of the holiday spirit and to witness the lights as they transform Leavenworth into a magical winter wonderland.
